This event offers two options for your group, a High Tea or Luncheon Tea. The Teas are held in a period Holiday setting with Victorian Holiday music performed by period-clad musicians and with the entire service staff also in costume, whose sole purpose is to make you feel like a queen. After a delicious tea, your guests are treated to a live one-man performance of Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" by Howard Burnham who is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts of London, England.

Howard Burnham, a true Shakespearian actor and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London, shares the tale of Scrooge in a one-man production of Dickens own "A Christmas Carol." This classic tale highlights the spirit of the holiday and all things good and just.

GULLAH HOLIDAY TRADITIONS TOUR

Come experience the rich history and the holiday traditions of Gullah heritage in the Lowcountry of South Carolina! Gullah heritage dates back to the late 1500's to the Carolina Colonies. Today, there are nearly half a million people who still actively identify as Gullah between Jacksonville, Florida and Jacksonville, North Carolina in a stretch that is referred to as the Gullah Geechee Historical Corridor. At the beginning of your tour you will venture down to Georgetown to visit the Gullah Museum; it is here that history comes alive through native art, historical artifacts and handmade story-telling quilts and much, much more. Next, we will head to Hopsewee Plantation, home to a charming 18 century plantation styled house and beautiful oak shaded grounds. Enjoy a historical tour of the house and learn about the Gullah people's involvement on the rice plantation from 1670 till the Stono Rebellion. During your time at Hopsewee you will also have the chance to view a sweetgrass basket demonstration by Vera Manigualt, an eighth-generation weaver and Gullah descendant. Sweetgrass baskets are a treasured Lowcountry tradition even today. The baskets are created by tightly coiling bundles of sweetgrass, and hold great cultural significant to the Gullah people. After leaving Hopsewee we will stop for lunch and then go on a city tour of historic Georgetown. Established in 1526, few cities have as much history or charm as Georgetown. You will get to tour the heart of the city's historic district, full of preserved buildings some of which date as far back as the 1700s and the waterfront district. Lastly, we will head to Brookgreen Gardens, named one of the "Top Five Favorite Gardens" by Southern Living Magazine, Brookgreen is filled with beautiful native flora and American sculpture. The Gardens are home to the largest collection of outdoor sculptures by American artist in the world! During your time at Brookgreen you will get to experience period holiday and gospel music and an entertaining performance of "The Christmas Story" in Gullah, and a fun, informative program about Gullah food, history and holiday tradition from Ron Daise. You may recognize Ron from the hit 1990's Nickelodeon show Gullah Gullah Island, he has since become very well-known and respected in the Gullah community winning awards such as the South Carolina African Heritage Commission's Lifetime Achievement Award.

HOLIDAY OF YORE - CHARLESTON

Come experience the magic of Charleston as the temperatures begin to drop and feeling of Christmas start filling the salty air of the Holy City. The festivities begin as soon as you step on the bus, where you will enjoy the tales and historical narratives of Christmas time during the Victorian Era by your very own period clad tour guide. Upon arrival, your first stop will be at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, named one of "America's Most Beautiful Gardens" by Travel+ Leisure Magazine. The plantation was established in 1676 by Thomas and Ann Drayton, after the family's trek from Barbados to the British colony of Charles Towne. The plantation is the oldest public tour site in the Lowcountry, as well as, the oldest public gardens in America. Explore the home, festively adored with Christmas trimmings the way the Drayton's would have enjoyed the house in the late 1600's, and then take a stroll through the enchanting gardens where gorgeous Camelia's will be in full bloom. After your exploration lunch is on your own at the Peacock Cafe, an onsite restaurant, that has sandwiches and salads for you to enjoy. Next, we will head into the city for a tour of Charleston and it's Christmas past. During this tour, you will see highlights such as the Battery, Waterfront Park, Rainbow Row, Broad Street, Four Corners on Law and the U.S. Custom House. Lastly, we will stop at the Charleston City Market for you to do some Christmas Shopping and maybe grab a sweet treat at one of area's delicious eateries. This complete Charlestonian tour will be sure to have you in the Christmas spirit by the time your feet hit the ground again in Myrtle Beach!
